Welcome to Going Green for Our Kids

Opening ceremony for our new bike shelter December 2016

After two years’ planning, we finally got our fabulous new bike and scooter shelter! It has storage for 28 bikes and 40 scooters, so get biking and scootering everyone!

Note: If we need more capacity, we can apply for an extension.

Gold STARS award ceremony October 2016

Here is our own JTA superhero picking up our Gold STARS award at the Transport for London ceremony at Camden Town Hall.

Anti-idling campaign March 2016

The JTAs hit the streets one morning in March to hand out leaflets to parent and carer drivers, asking them not to idle their cars while they’re waiting.  We were also assisted by Barnet Council that day to monitor the air quality during drop-off.  The readings confirmed a massive increase in the pollution levels during drop-off due to the increase in cars in the area.  That’s what our children are breathing in every morning and afternoon!

Neighbour leaflet drop May 2016

The JTAs dropped our school travel leaflet to 100 neighbours to let them know that we’re doing all we can to encourage parents and carers to drive and park responsibly around the area.  We were joined by our unofficial project mascot, Bailey!

Launch of our project display board December 2015

We were grateful to be given a prime location for our project display board – right outside the main hall.

Bikers’ breakfast December 2015

We had over 20 kids come early to school on their bikes and enjoy some breakfast and a rare spin around the playground.  We were joined by our Sustrans Bike-it officer, Arthur.  Despite slightly dismal December weather, everyone had a blast!

Summer fair smoothie bike July 2015

We raised over £200 for the PTA and raised awareness of our project (just starting up then).
