Take ONe Picture

This week we have been very busy in Reception for our Take One Picture Project.

This year our painting was 'Men of the Docks' by George Bellows. We had a lot of children visit the painting at the national gallery as we began our investigation at the beginning of the term.

We have followed the children's interests in the the investigation of the painting and this week Reception have been mainly focussing on Boats and Skylines.

We started the week with Mel talking about cruise ships, what is on them and the journeys they take around the world.  As well as looking at all of the different types of boats and what's on them.

Each class then made their own large scale boat adding details, such as anchors, life rafts, steering wheels, libraries, people etc.

They also designed and then made their own boats out of junk modelling..

They have been involved in lots of writing including writing their packing lists for their journeys around the world, writing what countries they would visit and why they want to see and do there.

We had a visit from an architect who talked to us about skylines and then we all had a go at drawing and making our own skylines.

What a fantastic week we have all had!
