Secondary school information for children transferring in 2024

Please find information below regarding your child’s transition from primary to secondary school in 2024. The information has been provided by the local authority and is designed to support you in the transition process.

Choosing which schools to apply to can be a daunting task. For information on different Barnet schools, the following document gives descriptions of all the secondary schools and academies in Barnet:

Some schools have selection tests. A full list of dates can be found below. (Please note - the deadline for application for Mill Hill County and Ashmole Academy aptitude tests is May 2023 (13th May and 20th May respectively)

If you need help completing and submitting the eAdmissions form, we will be holding drop-in mornings on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 3rd October 9 - 10am
  • Wednesday 18th October 2:15 - 3:15pm 
  • Thursday 19th October 9 - 10am

All applications must be submitted by 31st October 2023.

 How Frith Manor Supports Your Child to Move to Secondary School

Transition 2024

A meeting was held last year in the summer term (2023) for Year 5 parents explaining the secondary transition process for those children transferring to secondary school at the end of this academic year (2024). All of the information shared in that meeting is available above.

Year 6 parents are invited to a meeting for parents on Monday, 25th September 3:30pm in which information on SATs, school journey and secondary transfer will be shared. Key reminders about the secondary school transition process and the online eAdmissions form that needs to be completed will be shared at the meeting.   

If you need help completing and submitting the eAdmissions form, we will be holding drop-in mornings on the following dates:

Children with additional needs

Thursday 11th May 2023 - Transition conference - There will be a virtual morning organised by the local authority for parents/Carers of Year 5/6 children with Additional Needs, with or without an EHCP, transferring to a mainstream Secondary School in Autumn 2023 or 2024. There will be a meeting for Year 5 parents in the summer term to begin looking at transition for the next academic year.
