Welcome to the Parents and Teachers Association Section! We are the PTA for the school. We are a charity, run independently by parents and teachers, and we organise events to raise funds to buy equipment and other items for the school. Oh, and we have fun doing it, too!
Below you will find further details about the PTA – about what we have been doing and what we have been spending money on. We would love you to get involved and help us raise even more money.
Who is The PTA?
If you have a connection with Frith Manor School– as parents, teachers, & carers – then you are a Member in any case! There is no need to join, be elected or subscribe – you already are one!
We would like as many of you as possible to become involved with the PTA and make it a wider “family” community! Involvement can take many forms: we need help with events, ideas for raising and spending money, match funding and practical support, donations of items for events … the list is endless. The more help we get, the more money we raise, the more our children benefit. Simple!
Who can join The PTA?
Anyone is most welcome to join the PTA: parents, teachers, & carers, come to meetings, volunteer to help at events, or be elected as an officer or to the committee if you want to be more closely involved. This usually takes place at The Annual AGM usually held in Oct/Nov of each year
What sort of events are run?
We try to organise a wide range of events, including the Christmas and Summer fairs, fireworks night, bingo and quiz nights, raffles, second-hand uniform sales, music evenings, sponsored events etc. If that is not enough, we would like to try and organise some new events – any ideas?
How much money is raised and what is it spent on?
The school is proud of the achievements of the PTA: in the year ending August 2010 we raised over £20,000 this is a huge achievement!
We have funded (amongst other things) the activity trim trail, the shade sails, the Librarian, the Lollipop man and many other items for various classrooms. In addition, we have bought computers, teaching equipment, books, microphones, sports kit, financially supported theme weeks in school such as the Pantomime… the list goes on! To get involved in the decisions for the expenditure the bids are usually held after the main Winter Fair and Summer Fair so be sure to attend these meetings and have your say! We would love to hear what you think the priorities for expenditure this should be. Usually Teachers put “bids” in via the Head teacher and these are discussed at our meeting.
How do I find out what happens at meetings?
The best way, of course, is to come along. However, copies of the minutes from PTA meetings can be accessed via your class reps or simply by contacting the PTA secretary on ptasec@gmail.com, If you register your contact details with the school or the PTA Secretary you will also automatically receive update emails about PTA matters.
How can I get involved?
There are so many ways to get involved: come along to meetings; support our events – and offer to help us run them; email us or call us with ideas of events we can run or things we should fund; bring in donations of goods when we have collection days; match fund, collect supermarket vouchers, help to run the uniform shop on Tuesday or Friday afternoons, sponsor your child, make refreshments at parents evening. If you have even one hour to spare, we can find a use for it!
Who do I contact if I am interested in getting involved?
We would love to hear from you! Please contact the school office and leave your details for one of the PTA team to contact you, speak to your class rep, or simply email the PTA secretary on ptasec@gmail.com.
It is your child’s school and worth getting involved as it is so rewarding and you get to meet so many people you would otherwise not have met, your child benefits by this investment too as without our volunteers we cannot raise extra funds for the school to invest in items for our children’s enriched learning experience which the normal school budget will not cover. We hope you will make that difference and come and join in!
Please come forward and contact ptasec@gmail.com with your details.
