Nursery's display for black history month
Our nursery display for Black History Month
One of our nursery parents came into school and brought in some Ghanaian textiles and clothing for the children to try on and experience wearing. Some of the children then took part in a small parade around the school displaying the colourful prints and patterns. Nursery also experienced creating their own 'Kente' patterns (inspried by traditional Kente cloth patterns) using different coloured strips of paper and then moved on to creating patterns with different shapes and black paint. To conclude the week we enjoyed a visit from one of our parents who is a textile designer and she gave a talk to the children on how she works and creates different patterns and how she chooses what colours to work with to create her textiles.
What a wonderful week!
