Week beginning 5th june
This week in Year 2
This week in English we have been writing poetry using interesting vocabulary and beginning to thinking about rhyming couplets. We wrote our poems about the things you might find in a city. Can you use poetic language to describe things you find around your home?
This week in maths we have been revisiting multiplication and times tables. We looked into the features that different multiplication tables have that make it easier to check answers, such as the 5 times table all ending in 0 or 5. Can you remember the features of numbers in the 2 times table?
This week in Topic we started our unit on Pirates and Seasides. We looked into the way that winds and tides allowed ships to navigate and travel hundreds of years ago. Pull the plug out of a bath or sink – which way does the water spin? Does this match what we know about tides North of the equator?
Last half term in year 2, how time flies! Just a reminder that swimming is continuing, so it is essential children bring their kits on Tuesdays. You have now been informed of the new plans for the school trip to Canvey Island – I hope you are as excited as we are! Please ensure you return your slips with the additional money as soon as possible and maybe start browsing for those stylish sun hats.
