Week beginning 27th february

Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

Dear Parents,

This week in maths we have focusing on measuring lengths using non-standard units and comparing and ordering lengths from shortest to longest.

In English we have been reading the book ‘Commotion in the Ocean’ by Giles Andreae. We have learned about different sea creatures by listening to a variety of short poems from this book. Then we wrote about these creatures using powerful adjectives and interesting verbs.

For next week it would be helpful for the children to do some pre-learning by watching the clip about Alexander Graham Bell. We will be learning about him next week as it is the anniversary of the invention of the telephone.

Thank you for all your support with World Book Day. Everyone looked amazing and we had fabulous book donations for our class libraries. We can’t wait to read them together and we are always grateful for books that you don’t mind parting with.

Thanks to all parents who have previously contributed money for class consumables. This really helps us when we have learning that is heavily resourced. We would really appreciate your continued support with this.

Kind Regards,

Year 1 Team
